A dozen archers took advantage of the glorious sunshine on Sunday to shoot a mixed bag of metric rounds.

The only direct competition occurred in the Gents Recurve, where Matt Smith, Richard Hainge and Johnathan Gordon took each other on in a WA1440 round. All of the men had misses but with Richard and Matt recording five misses apiece, the fight was really for second place as Johnathan continued his impressive run of victories. Matt pushed hard, aided by Richard who used the wrong sight mark for the first end at 50m, but Richard held on to take second. Johnathan, meanwhile, took the win an impressive 209 points ahead of Richard.

Westy Westmorland had the Gents Compound field to himself to take the win unopposed. He was in good form, recording a six-gold end at the 90m distance of the WA1440 for which he can claim a badge.

Aalin George likewise had the Ladies Compound version all to herself, putting on fine display as she soaked up the Manx sunshine.

In the Ladies Recurve Erin Hainge shot two separate Metric rounds as a warmup for Nationals at Lilleshall, tackling a WA 900 (60/50/40m shot on a full size 122cm target) in the morning session and WA60m round in the afternoon. A technical malfunction with her clicker in the morning session took some time to resolve but it did not stop Erin from setting new club records for both rounds.

Tom Rogers was only available for the morning session which he used to shoot a Long Metric (90/70m), while Emily O’Hara shot the Ladies equivalent (70/60m). Misses from them both put a dent in their respective scores.

Stan Gorry gave his Barebow an outing in a WA50m round and again took the win unopposed.

Erin Quirk (Compound) had a go at the Short Metric (50/30m), while Lula Brown thoroughly enjoyed herself tackling a WA30m round at which she set a new club record.
