Lesley was selected to compete for England at the IFAA European Field Archery Championships held in Hohegeiss ,Germany. Lesley was chosen to compete for England in the Team of Nations Competition where England took the Silver medal. England was leading over the first four days but Germany clinched it on the fifth day to take Gold with Estonia taking Bronze.
Lesley also finished second in the Adult Female Traditional Recurve Class. Despite five challenging, steep and hilly courses set in a ski resort Lesley put in personal best performances. In the field round her personal best improved by 5 points and in the hunter round by 13 points .
Over 700 European archers competed in the Championships. Lesley said ‘I am pleased with my performances as there were some very difficult shots. The target sizes are quite small with the biggest face being 65cm and shot at a distance from 55 to 80 yards. Shorter distances have smaller targets the smallest being 20cm.’
‘I have been training full time this year having taken a secondment from teaching. It was a good decision to take a year out as I have seen a marked improvement in my shooting. I have been selected to represent England in International competitions and winning three World medals and two European medals have been the highlights of my year. My last International competition this year will be competing in September for Great Britain at the World 3D Championships in France.‘
