Fourteen members of the IoM Archery Club turned up on Sunday to shoot a WA18 round as part of the Club’s Scratch League. Conditions were chilly but not as bad as the previous week.
It was a straight head to head between Josh Trafford and Danny Cowin in the Gents Recurve, with once again Trafford triumphing over the older man.
Colin Moore elected to shoot the round barebow and put in another decent score.
Barbara Harris, Lesley Sleight and Tilly Ashton were the only representatives of their divisions; namely Ladies Recurve, Ladies Traditional Bow and Junior Girls respectively.
The largest field of the day was provided by the Junior Gents Recurve with five entrants vying for the win. Joseph Reaney surprised everyone by turning up well in advance of the shooting time and so belying his Club nickname of ‘The Late Joseph Reaney’. Having given himself plenty of time to set up his bow, Joseph then went on to shoot a personal best score for the round and take the win into the bargain. Aaron Pannell-Cottier also shot a pb for the round to secure second place, with Jacob Brookes in third. James Hill, who is still getting back to form after a brief hiatus, came fourth with Nathan Kinrade, who also recorded a pb, in fifth.
