Club Report 20th July 2025

A special shout out must be given to the Compound Team after their magnificent effort at the Island Games in Orkney last week. Shooting over four days in blistering heat, which no one was expecting, and battered by merciless crosswinds, which they were, the Manx archers lifted a total of five medals. Ethan Moore, gradually … Continue reading Club Report 20th July 2025

Club Report 6th July 2025

Erin Hainge had been putting in some stupendous rounds this season and hopes were high as she travelled to the Junior National Championships at Lilleshall, the headquarters of Archery GB. The two-day event consisted of a WA 900 (50/40/30m) on the first day and a Junior Windsor (50/40/30yds) on the second day. With appalling timing … Continue reading Club Report 6th July 2025

Club Report 29th June 2025

There was a low turnout at Greeba on Sunday, where a variety of rounds were shot by those who could be bothered to turn up. The conditions were generally good, with bouts of sunshine. The wind was, as usual, tricky at the bosses which kept the archers guessing. With Rhys Moore away in England at … Continue reading Club Report 29th June 2025

Club Report 22nd June 2025

The weather forecast suggested that the overnight rain would stop by 9am and would not resume until 1pm. However, the handful of archers who turned up on Sunday experienced intermittent showers throughout the morning which became steadily heavier as the day advanced. The Compound archers heading for Island Games tackled a WA1440, but the remaining … Continue reading Club Report 22nd June 2025

Isle of Man Archery Outdoor Club Championships 15th June 2025

It looked as though the Club Championships might have to be postponed but the weather improved just enough for them to go ahead as planned on Sunday. It was soggy underfoot after the heavy overnight rain, but the early morning drizzle dried up in time for the start. The major problem was the wind coming … Continue reading Isle of Man Archery Outdoor Club Championships 15th June 2025

Club Report 18th May 2025

Fourteen archers turned up on Sunday to enjoy sunshine and shooting. The round of the day was a WA 1440 for those with the whole day at their disposal – 3 dozen arrows shot at each of four distances. Conditions were good on the whole, but a stiff breeze broke out just before lunch and … Continue reading Club Report 18th May 2025

Club Report 11th May 2025

Fifteen archers took advantage of the excellent conditions at the weekend at Greeba. The round of the day was WA720, 72 arrows at a single distance – 70m for Recurve, 50m Compound. It was not quite warm enough for Rhys Moore to switch to his shorts, for which everyone was grateful; the sunlight reflecting off … Continue reading Club Report 11th May 2025

Club Report 4th May 2025

Conditions were less than ideal for shooting at Greeba on Sunday. While it was relatively sheltered on the shooting line, a bitterly cold crosswind played havoc with the arrows at the target end of the field, especially at the longer distances. The round of the day was a WA1440 (3 dozen arrows at each of … Continue reading Club Report 4th May 2025

Club Report 27th April 2025

The Outdoor range at Greeba once again proved to have it own climate on Sunday. The forecast had predicted 13 degrees but feeling like 10 with the wind chill and sunny spells. Muffled up as though going on an Arctic trek, the archers found the field to be a suntrap, and layers of clothing were … Continue reading Club Report 27th April 2025

Club Report 20th April 2025

Easter Sunday dawned bright and sunny, but appearances can be deceptive. The archers who turned up at Greeba had to contend with intense cold and a biting, gusty wind which had them huddling together in the sunshine between shots. A variety of rounds were attempted over the day. Those with the time and/or dedication to … Continue reading Club Report 20th April 2025
