The latest club session saw archers competing in a handicap shoot, with the round of the day being a Portsmouth, and strong shooting across the archers produced some very close results throughout the field. In a handicap shoot, archers of different abilities and bow styles compete on equal terms, with scores adjusted using Archery GB handicap tables. This rewards those performing at, or above, their personal best for the season and often produces extremely tight results.
Ralf Mitchell claimed top spot in the overall standings, producing a composed and consistent performance to take first place. He was followed by Peter Mumford in second and Joy Gough in third, with the leading trio setting the pace.
Just behind the podium, Johnathan Gordon and David Craine were separated by the narrowest of margins in the race for the top positions. Further down the standings, Les Corran finished ahead of Andrew Westmorland — a result unlikely to go unnoticed and one that may well be mentioned more than once at the next practice session. Meanwhile, Caitlin Gelder and Radu Lavric, both recent newcomers to the sport, continued to impress as they build experience and confidence in competition.
Further down the table, Rhys Moore, Colin Moore and Tom Rodgers maintained the theme of close scoring, as only narrow gaps separated much of the leaderboard. The final results once again highlighted the effectiveness of the handicap format, producing a balanced contest across the club.
